Hungary Work Visas

All other nationals must get a visa to work and live in Hungary, except citizens of the European Union and the European Economic Area.

To apply for one of the four categories of work visas, depending on the qualifications or nature of the job, prospective employees must first obtain a job offer.

Hungary’s Parliament passed laws creating a new class of migrant workers earlier this year. Workers from non-EEA nations are now able to lawfully remain in Hungary for periods longer than ninety days, as long as they fulfill certain standards.

These include having valid travel documents, proving their financial stability, obtaining a confirmed address, and adhering to security requirements.

Nevertheless, candidates had to be informed that Hungary’s authorities have declared a limit on the number of foreign laborers permitted, stressing that the purpose of the action is to bolster the domestic labor force instead of reducing the flood of job searchers.
