The Shortage of Skills and Prospects for the Future
A significant skills gap was identified in Switzerland in a September 2023 study by Advance and the University of St. Gallen. With Baby Boomers retiring, the problem is expected to get worse.
According to the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute (GDI), by 2030, there could be up to 400,000 open employments, even with a yearly influx of 50,000 skilled individuals.
This emphasizes how international workers may be able to get jobs in Switzerland.

Requirements for Work Visas
To work in Switzerland, non-EU/EFTA nationals must get a visa. Potential candidates must be competent professionals with a university degree, significant job experience, and specialized knowledge.
It is imperative that a job offer be obtained in advance, and the business must attest to the fact that an EU/EFTA citizen is not available for the position.
Facilitated Entry for Foreign Employees
Recently, Switzerland streamlined its regulations for foreign workers seeking a work permit in Switzerland.
The process of obtaining a work visa for eligible workers from other nations has been simplified by the authorities. Swiss officials stressed that skilled workers from other countries can receive a work visa provided there is a genuine demand and alignment with Switzerland’s economic objectives.
