In the history books of Pakistan, this will be the first instance of its kind in which the Punjab government will distribute free residential plots for journalists of Pakistan.
The free residential plots for journalists were promised by the CM Punjab. Now CM has kept his promise by announcing the granting of residential plots to professional journalists in Punjab.
All persons related to journalism such as reporters, photographers, and cameramen are eligible to apply
This momentous decision marks the first time in the province’s history that journalists will be allocated plots via a transparent balloting procedure.
A total of 3,300 plots will be handed to reporters, photographers, and camerapersons from both print and electronic media. Reporters will each receive a seven-marla plot, while photographers and camerapersons will be given three-marla plots.
The CM announced that 200 acres of land had been set aside for this purpose, demonstrating the government’s commitment to helping the media community.
To guarantee a fair selection process, an advertisement explaining the plots’ qualifying conditions will be published in newspapers on January 22. Interested journalists have until January 28 to submit their applications.
The administration intends to hold the balloting by February 8, demonstrating its commitment to a timely and transparent allocation procedure.
CM Naqvi said that Ravi Urban Development Authority officials will offer complete information on the application procedure, exhibiting transparency and openness throughout the allocation process.
Looking ahead, the CM hinted at future phases in which storylines will be revealed for journalists working in newsrooms.
This effort underscores the government’s appreciation of journalists’ vital contributions, as well as the need to give incentives and assistance.
During his travels as chief minister over the last year, CM Naqvi recognized the persistent desire for incentives from journalists in numerous places.
This decision not only meets that requirement but also represents a proactive response to the media community’s concerns. As Punjab pioneers this unique strategy, it establishes a positive example for recognizing and supporting the critical role that journalists play in society.
