The Punjab government has declared school holidays for elections in all schools and higher education institutions in the area for the upcoming elections on February 8, 2024.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi wrote, “Because of the upcoming general elections on 8th February, Provincial Cabinet has approved that all public and private sector schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab will be closed from Feb 6th to Feb 9th.”
Last Monday, the federal government declared a national holiday on February 5 (Kashmir Day), which would be followed by election holidays from February 6 to 9. Schools will be closed for the next two days due to the weekend.
Following the weeklong holiday, all educational institutions will resume educational activities on February 12.

School Holidays for Elections
Election holidays follow the Kashmir holiday. This provides a fairly long weekend for students and instructors to relax and prepare for the impending elections.
Students and individuals linked with the education sector will get a weeklong holiday owing to the Kashmir Holiday, Election Break, and weekend.
The Punjab government approved new school times from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm starting February 1, 2024.
