UK Travel Advisory for Citizens in Pakistan Issued Amidst Current Concerns

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom (UK) has issued a travel advisory advising British nationals ‘against any travel’ to certain parts of Pakistan.

The FCDO has issued a warning against visiting regions close to the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The FCDO is tasked with informing British nationals about potential hazards while going abroad to avert unfavorable situations.

“Avoid all travel to within 10 miles of the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” the FCDO explicitly recommends in its caution. Parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are among the other regions that have been declared hazardous for travel.

The following is a comprehensive list of Pakistani regions where British nationals are recommended not to visit:

UK Travel Advisory for KPK Areas:

  • Bajaur
  • Bannu
  • Buner
  • Charsadda
  • Dera Ismail Khan
  • Khyber
  • Kohat
  • Kurram
  • Lakki Marwat
  • Lower Dir
  • Lower South Waziristan
  • Mohmand
  • North Waziristan
  • Orakzai
  • Peshawar, including the city of Peshawar
  • Swat
  • Tank
  • Upper South Waziristan
  • The Karakoram Highway connects Mansehra and Chilas and passes through Battagram, Besham City, Dasu, and Sazin before joining the N15.
  • The N45 Highway runs from the outskirts of Chitral City to the north of the Mardan Ring Road.

UK Travel Advisory for Balochistan Areas:

Except for necessary travel to some southern shore locations, the FCDO advises against making any trips to the province of Baluchistan. It consists of :

  • The region to the south of the N10 road.
  • Section of the N25, which passes through the port city of Gwadar, from the N10/N25 interchange to the border between Balochistan and Sindh.

AJK:

British nationals are urged not to travel within ten miles of the Line of Control (LOC), which is the military boundary between Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) from the Afghan Journalist Kush (AJK).

Sindh Areas:

In the regions of Sindh Province north of and including the city of Nawabshah, “FCDO advises against all but essential travel,” the alert stated.

Most significantly, the FCDO has issued a warning, threatening to void travel insurance and warning of harsh consequences for anyone who travels against its advice.
