Beyond protecting borders and territories, Pakistan’s Armed Forces have emerged as critical contributors to civil administration and disaster relief operations, standing firm on the front lines during natural disasters.
According to the most recent Global Firepower Index for 2024, Pakistan ranks ninth out of 145 countries, demonstrating great military might. The complete GPI evaluation took into account 60 aspects, including military equipment, financial soundness, active troops, geographic position, and available resources.

The Global Firepower Index, with a perfect score of 0, indicates variations in a country’s status over time. Pakistan placed ninth, with an index of 0.1711, somewhat lower than the previous year, while Turkey improved.
Notably, Pakistan excelled in terms of manpower, ranking seventh in the world. The country also exhibited considerable airpower, gaining a place among the top ten.
Pakistan exhibits military strength in tanks, artillery, and rockets, obtaining a top ten ranking. However, there are problems in naval power, natural resources, and reserves.
Despite facing economic issues, as seen by recent events in Islamabad, the country’s economy reflects its struggles, with lower ranks in several financial categories. Pakistan ranks 23rd in purchasing power parity, 62nd in forex reserves, 47th in military spending, and 70th in foreign debt.
The global military scene is fiercely competitive, with powerhouses like the United States, Russia, China, India, and others.
Pakistan’s ascension to the top ten demonstrates its military prowess in the global arena, overcoming economic restraints and establishing a prominent position among the global elite.
