Imran Khan is accused of accepting precious presents from foreign dignitaries at lower rates and thereafter selling them for $635,000. The presents include a replica of the Kaaba from Saudi Arabia, which is believed to be worth 60 to 65 million rupees on the international market.
On October 21, 2022, the Election Commission of Pakistan said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan made false claims about the Toshakhana gifts and assets in violation of Article 63 (1) of the Constitution.
On August 5, 2023, a local court sentenced Imran Khan to three years in jail for the Toshakhana crime. However, on December 21, the Islamabad High Court denied the appeal for sentence suspension and upheld his disqualification.
