KP Govt. Launches Second Phase of Professional Courses Under Accelerated Skills Development Programme

Under the Accelerated Skills Development Programme (ASDP), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally inaugurated the second training phase of free technical training, skills, and professional courses for the youth of amalgamated districts.

Under the same project, 302 male and female merged district residents were trained in the first phase with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme’s Merged Areas Governance Programme (MAGP), and another batch of 445 people is being trained in the second phase with a monthly stipend of 5,000.

Similarly, in this three-year initiative begun for the development of the united districts, about 5500 individuals will be supplied with the required skills and technical training.

The second phase of the project was formally launched on Thursday, here in a one-day workshop on the Accelerated Skills Development Program, attended by the program’s project director, Khalid Usman, officials from the Department of Industries and Commerce, UNDP representatives from the MAGP program, industrial experts, journalists, and people from other walks of life.

Speaking during the workshop, the Program’s initiative Director, Khalid Usman, stated that the goal of the three-year initiative was to teach the youth of the amalgamated districts to worldwide standards in the top training institutions in the country and province.

He stated that we were also providing monthly stipends to trainees under this program and that the project unit had received around 5577 applications from aspirants for the second phase.

On this occasion, UNDP representatives voiced their opinions, stating that this major initiative initiated for the combined districts was deemed vital for the true development of these areas following the merger and that it was initiated following a thorough study survey.

He described it as a highly valuable and essential undertaking aimed at making the young of the merging areas employable. Many additional programs, he added, were being considered under UNDP’s MAGP initiative for merging districts under the Department of Industries.
