As part of an academic-industry co-opt program, HEC has scheduled a centralized test for IT graduates job placement to place talented IT students in the business.
All seventh-semester students enrolled in HEC-recognized universities are eligible to take the test for free. The test will be administered via the virtual university on January 7, 2024.
Students can register by applying through the https://www.vu.edu.pk/GradateTest/ portal till December 31, 2023. Through P@SHA, students who pass the exam will have the opportunity to be placed in IT firms, including leading IT exporters in Pakistan, where they will gain practical experience working on real-world projects.

Candidates who meet the requirements of the aforementioned co-opt program may be excluded from electives or required field experience for up to six credit hours during the eighth semester.
Following the co-opt program’s successful conclusion, the candidates’ credentials and recommendations will be posted on the PSEB and P@SHA portals, giving them access to a sizable pool of IT firms and potentially leading to employment offers.
To identify the gap between the IT industry and academia and ways to improve the market readiness of IT students, a series of meetings were held with relevant stakeholders, including the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA), and Higher Education Commission (HEC).
To deploy talented IT students in the industry through an academia-industry co-opt program, a centralized test is first being designed through Virtual University (VU) in conjunction with stakeholders.
