China Offers Fully Funded Scholarships for BS, MS, and PhD to Pakistani Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has solicited applications from Pakistani and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) citizens for BS, MS, and Ph.D. programs under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program (CGSP) for 2024-25.

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the Chinese Education Ministry jointly manage the CGSP, which seeks to give bright Pakistani students the opportunity to study and do research at top Chinese institutions.

Undergraduate students will get a monthly stipend of CNY 2,500 under CGSP 2024-25, Master’s students a monthly stipend of CNY 3,000, and Ph.D. students a monthly stipend of CNY 3,500.

Chinese universities will be responsible for financing education fees, administrative charges, health insurance, and other academic-related expenses.

Travel expenses, on the other hand, must be met by all CGSP 2024-25 beneficiaries.

Programs Available

Scholarships are available at the following levels under the CGSP 2024-25:

  • Undergraduate (study duration of 4-5 years).
  • Master’s degree (2-3 years of study).
  • Doctorate (three to four years of research tenure).

During the study or research period, 1-2 years of Chinese language preparation lessons will be required.

How can Apply for the CGSP Scholarship

  • Applicants must be Pakistani or AJK nationals, as well as Pakistani or AJK permanent residents. Dual citizens are ineligible.
  • Applicants for BS scholarships must have a suitable qualification (Intermediate/A-level/FA/FSc/12 years of schooling) by the closing date.
  • They must be under the age of 25 on or before the closing date.
  • Applicants for MS scholarships must have a relevant first-class qualification (BS/16 years of schooling) by the closing date.
  • They must be under the age of 35 on or before the closing date.
  • Applicants for Ph.D. scholarships must have a relevant first-class qualification (MS/MPhil/17-18 years of study) by the closing date.
  • They must be under the age of 40 on or before the closing date, and they must also fulfill the CSC application standards as well as the admission requirements of the different Chinese institutions.
  • Applicants who are awaiting results or who are presently receiving other scholarships are unable to apply.
  • All applicants must provide a HAT or USAT test score. A minimum score of 50 out of 100 on the HAT or USAT test is required.
  • Applicants who took the HAT or USAT test on or after January 1, 2023, may upload the test results to the HEC site for consideration.
  • Applications will not be accepted for further processing unless a minimum HAT or USAT test score (50 out of 100) is provided.

Application Procedure

  • Applicants must submit their applications online using both the CSC and HEC platforms. Applications submitted in any other manner will be rejected.
  • Applicants who do not apply through both sites will have their applications rejected.
  • It is also recommended that candidates submit all supporting documentation in the necessary manner. Their applications will be denied otherwise.

  • After enrolling and filling up their profiles, applicants can apply for CGSP 2024-25 using HEC’s Online Portal.
  • Applicants can apply for the CGSP 2024-25 using the CSC’s Online Portal by selecting program Type: A and Agency No.5861. Applicants can also apply using this website.

Documentation

  • Only those who have been shortlisted will be needed to provide the following documents:
  • Certified copies of all academic degrees, CNIC/B-form, Domicile, and equivalency certifications issued by IBCC or HEC.
  • A study plan or research proposal of 200 words for the BS, 500 words for the MS, and 800 words for the Ph.D. Only Ph.D. applicants will be given copies of their research publications and achievements.
  • Two authentic recommendation/reference letters from prior universities’ professors/associate professors. (Only available to MS and Ph.D. applicants)
  • Language proficiency certificates or IELTS/TOEFL/HSK scores (as appropriate).
  • A copy of a passport valid until March 1, 2025.
  • A copy of a government-certified physician’s medical examination.
  • A copy of a police clearance certificate that is no more than six months old.
  • A letter of authorization from the company if the candidates are hired.

Deadline

The deadline for both the HEC and CSC websites to apply for the CGSP 2024-25 is Thursday, December 28, 2023 (23:59 PM Pakistan Standard Time).
