HEC revealed the Law GAT 2024 registration schedule and the date of the Law GAT test is set for January 07, 2024.
Every LLB graduate who wants to apply for Bar Council Registration must take the Law Graduate Assessment Test. By no later than December 25, 2023, applications for LAW-GAT 2023 may be filed online via the HEC portal.
Those who have completed a Bachelor of Laws degree or its equivalent from an institution accredited by HEC/PBC may register online at http://etc.hec.gov.pk. Online applications are accepted at the HEC website. Before beginning their legal careers, all LLB graduates must complete the HEC LAE-GAT.
There will be multiple choice questions (MCOs) on the test. A week before the exam date, candidates who registered online through the HEC system can obtain their Roll Number Slip at http://etc.hec.gov.pk.
Registrants will receive an email or SMS with information on the exam date, time, and location. Candidates must furnish a functional email address or mobile number during the online application process.

To enter the test center, a print copy of the roll number slip and the original CNIC are needed. December 25, 2023, is the deadline for HEC Law GAT 2024 applications.
Eligibility Criteria:
Those who have completed a law bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by PBC and HEC are qualified to apply.
Registration Procedure for Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) 2023 in HEC Law:
- For online registration, kindly click this link: http://etc.hec.gov.pk.
- If you have any difficulties with your online registration, feel free to seek assistance from the HEC Secretariat or HEC Regional Centers, or visit onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk.
- Completing the profile through the “My Profile” section and submitting the application through the “Law Graduate Assessment Test” link on the menu panel located on the left-hand sidebar of the online portal are the two procedures involved in the application submission process.
- Applications in SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will not be accepted; only applications that have been SUBMITTED will be taken into account for the Law-GAT Test.
- The test fee of Rs. 3000/-must be deposited using participating banks for 1Link 1Bill invoices, ATMs, Internet banking, mobile banking, Easypaisa, JazzCash, and Upaisa.
- After choosing the 1link 1bill Invoice payment option. Go to your mobile app, open it, log in, and select Bill.
- After selecting 1Bill Invoice payment services, enter the customer number that the ETC site provided. Pay the payment after you’ve seen the details.
- Upon making the payment via 1Link 1Bill Invoice, select Verity Online Payment from the ETC Dashboard. There are no refunds or transfers for the test fee. Candidates must have their concerns and/or questions answered before the online registration system closes.
Note: To be eligible to take the test, a candidate must produce a printout of their paid fee receipt via 1Link on test day, together with their roll number, original passport, and CNIC. Failure to bring these documents will prevent the applicant from entering the test center.
Other Requirements:
- The Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) must be passed with a score of at least 50%.
- By PBC’s rules and regulations, applicants may need to fulfill additional requirements.
- A maximum of three attempts will be granted to applicants to pass the Law-GAT exam. Three times a year, HEC will administer the test.
HEC-Law GAT Test Centers
- The following locations will host the test including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Abbottabad, Quetta, Multan, Hyderabad, Turbat, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad and Gilgit.
- Any test center on the list provided in the application form may be chosen by applicants. Only if at least 250 applications choose one of the aforementioned centers then the test will be conducted there. Once chosen, the test center cannot be altered after registering.
Deadline for Registration:
- December 25, 2023 (4 PM) is the last day to register online.
