Due to the current situation of uncertainty in the capital city of Pakistan, many schools are caught between opening and closing their schools.
Schools and institutions in Islamabad were closed on January 22 (Monday) due to a security concern, and now a notification has emerged online and is being circulated in WhatsApp groups, claiming a two-day vacation in the capital on January 23 and 24.

Holidays in Islamabad
As reports circulated online concerning the deteriorating situation in the capital area, Islamabad’s Deputy Commissioner clarified that there will be no holidays on January 23 and 24.
Despite promises from Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan that the security situation in the federal capital is under control, a large number of schools in Islamabad remained closed today (Tuesday).
In a video message uploaded on the capital police’s official account, IGP Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan cautioned against changing school and college timetables, noting that the security situation in the federal capital is currently manageable. Contrary to this advice, the majority of institutions chose to close and deliver classes online.
Parents, concerned about security risks, were hesitant to take their children to school today. Adding to the cautious attitude, three prominent colleges in the capital—Bahria, Air University, and National Defense University—had previously announced indefinite closures.
Quaid-e-Azam University, on the other hand, chose to start on Wednesday and stated that Monday and Tuesday examinations will be postponed for Saturday.
The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) published advice asking private schools to increase security measures. Notably, PEIRA stated that no formal communication had been given regarding school closures.
Meanwhile, the Federal Directorate of Education, which is in charge of regulating public schools and colleges in the federal capital, indicated that all public sector institutions will be open as normal on Wednesday, allaying worries about the shutdown.
This paradoxical circumstance demonstrates the tight balance between security concerns and the requirement for regular academic activity at the capital’s educational institutions.
