Later, the judge asked the prison officials to summon Khan to appear in court. However, jail authorities informed the judge that the PTI founder was not ready to appear in court.

Sentence in Cipher Case

A special court constituted under the Official Secrets Act convicted PTI founder Imran Khan and his deputy Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a cipher case the previous day.

During a hearing at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain sentenced the former prime minister and foreign minister to ten years in prison each.

The judge gave both political leaders a questionnaire to record their statements under Section 342. Both PTI leaders answered 36 questions in court.

Before imposing the punishment, the court questioned Imran Khan about the location of the cipher, which the PTI founder said included proof of a US attempt to overthrow his administration.

In response, the former premier stated that he did not hold the cipher and that he was not responsible for the security of the Prime Minister’s House.

Following the guilty verdict in the case, the court imposed the prison term.
