As the dispute over the interim VC appointment in Isra University relentlessly goes on in spite of unequivocal recent Sindh High Court’s order, both the clashing groups of faculties have appointed two acting Vice Chancellors guaranteeing consistency with SHC’s Sep 15 order
The Kazi group, viewed as originators behind the Isra Islamic Foundation and the university, has named Dr. Waliullah Kazi as the caretaker VC while the ex-VC Dr. Nazeer Ashraf Laghari’s group has given the acting charge to Dr. Qamaruddin Mahar.
The previous appointment was advised by Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ghulam Qadir Kazi, who was named Chancellor by the foundation in December 2022, on the court’s order. The last appointment was made by the Laghari group perceived Chancellor Prof. Dr Ameer Bux Channa.

The SHC on September 15 pronounced that Dr Laghari is no longer VC of Isra after the finish of his three-year tenure on June 23. The court had guided the chancellor to appoint a permanent VC in four months and up to that point the chancellor could make decisions for the university under segment 8(2) of the Isra University Act.
As feared, both the parties have undermined the decision of appointment by the other group. In an explanation, Chancellor Kazi has conveyed designating Dr Ahmed as interim VC. He named Dr. Channa as an unlawful chancellor, saying his appointment of a VC would likewise be unlawful.
In the interim, as per one more proclamation by Dr. Laghari’s group, Dr. Mahar accepted the charge of his office on Wednesday. The Hyderabad campus, which is now under the administration control of his group, invited him to a meetup.
