The announcement of the Karachi board’s inter-exam and matriculation results has been significantly delayed due to the inexperience of the caretaker government in Sindh, which has resulted in a situation of educational chaos.
The ramifications of this haphazard method are extensive, affecting hundreds of thousands of pupils.
Results for class 9 in both scientific and general groups have not yet been released in Karachi, and the board’s frequent adjustments have caused repeated revisions in the plans for the inter-year 1 result.

About 200,000 kids in classes 9 and 11 are experiencing significant mental suffering as a result of the ambiguity surrounding these issues. Concerns regarding the possible postponement of some of the Inter extra test papers have also surfaced, with worries associated with the approaching general elections.
In Karachi, the annual exams for matriculation (grades 9 and 10) took place in May 2023. The inter-year exams for the 11th class were held in July.
Remarkably, the intermediate board has not yet finalized the results for class 11 and the matriculation board has not yet released the results for class 9.
The matriculation board reportedly has the results for the class 9 science and general groups ready, but the process has come to a complete halt due to a lack of invigilators to sign the results.
The decision by the Sindh government to do away with invigilator tests has made things much more complicated. There is still no officer designated to serve as the exam moderator after a month has gone by, which has added to the protracted wait for the results to be made public.
The chairman of the Secondary Education Board in Karachi, Professor Sharaf Ali Shah, admits that he has been told about the problem on several occasions. However, even though the results are complete, they have not been made public due to lingering questions and unanswered issues.
Seven months later, about 100,000 pupils in Karachi are waiting impatiently for their class 9 results, not knowing how they performed. These students are very distressed about the unclear passing grades, the obligations for preparing for class 10, and the possible repercussions of failing.
In the meantime, Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput has made organizational adjustments at the Inter Board Karachi. He has designated Deputy Controller Zahid Rashid and Deputy Secretary Haroon Rashid to manage the day-to-day operations of the Controller of Examination and Secretary Board, respectively, for a fortnight.
First-year students’ anguish is heightened as a result of the delays in all faculties’ results for the 11th class. Exam copies for many subjects, including English, are still being evaluated, and it is unclear when assessments for Commerce Regular subjects will be finished.
The forthcoming general elections on February 8 could potentially cause an interruption to the Inter supplementary exams, which were originally planned to begin on January 15, 2024. The possible postponement of make-up exams may result in rescheduling, which would be detrimental to students who are anxiously anticipating their first-year grades.
