UHS to Release Private Medical College Selection List on Jan 8

On January 8, the University Of Health Sciences (UHS) will release the first Private Medical College Selection List in Punjab.

Candidates who choose to apply under the centralized admission procedure would be accountable for their losses, according to a “public alert” issued by UHS on Thursday.

The province’s 49 private sector medical and dental institutes will produce a combined selection list for 4,000 MBBS and 1,025 BDS seats.

Candidates must submit the stipulated fee within three days after being named to the list. The announcement further stated that successful candidates must produce formal proof of enrollment at the various colleges.

It has been stated that all private institutions would rigorously follow UHS laws and regulations regarding fee collecting.

Colleges have been legally bound by an affidavit to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations outlined by the university and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council regarding fee refunds or transfers to protect the rights of admitted candidates and facilitate the fee collection process.

UHS has approved colleges that have filed the aforementioned affidavit to collect the complete amount from accepted students.

Colleges are expected to transmit the candidate’s complete money to the newly designated college in circumstances when applicants upgrade in consecutive selection lists.

The list of institutions that have filed the affidavit will be released with the initial selection list, and candidates will pay their fees directly to these recognized universities.

The letter further stressed that universities that have yet to submit the affidavit would not be permitted to collect payments directly from candidates.

Instead, UHS will collect a token fee (Rs1 million for open merit seats and US$10,000 for overseas seats) to ensure that accepted applicants’ rights are protected.

Following the completion of the admissions procedure, the university will transfer this sum to the account of the relevant institution.

According to a UHS spokeswoman, all candidates and their parents are told that, in line with Punjab government laws and court judgments, no private medical and dental institution has the authority to unilaterally accept students.

“Only candidates admitted through the centralized admission system by the UHS will be recognized as “admitted”.

Any candidate who obtains admission to a private medical or dentistry college on their own, whether by fraud or personal judgment, and submits fees will not be recognized as admitted.

Such candidates will be held accountable for their defeats,” he said.
