The Punjab Government’s Finance Department released a notification in which Punjab abolishes job quota for deceased employees children’s and revised rates of financial assistance for government employees in Punjab who pass away while they are still employed.
These employees’ families will receive financial aid at the new, increased rates starting in 2023. Following the updated notification, Rule 17-A Employment shall be terminated. Before the widow or this one child receives the job.

However, the department increased the lump sum payout amount as per new rules.
Updated Financial Assistance Rates for Punjab Government Workers in 2023
The following is the detail of enhanced rates of financial assistance for the family of a deceased government employee:
- The current basic pay scale for BPS-01 to BPS-04 has been raised from 1.6 million to 5.0 million.
- The revised rate for employees in BPS-05 to BPS-10 is now 7.5 million, as opposed to the previous rate of 1.9 million.
- In the case of BPS-11 to BPS-15, the current rate of 2.2 million has been increased to 10 million.
- The updated pay scale will see a rise for those in BPS-16 to BPS-17, from 2.5 million to 15 million.
- The base pay scale for employees falling under BPS-18 to BPS-19 will increase from 3.4 million to 20 million.
Government Job under Punjab’s Assistance Package
The son, daughter, or widow will no longer be able to work under the new regulations. In the past, the widow, son, or daughter was hired on a contract or regular basis. The majority of the position is Junior Clerk or Patwari.
