A statement supposedly from the Higher Education Department of Punjab is presently circulating on social media, announcing the extension of Punjab winter vacations till January 14 for both private and public institutions in Punjab.
“All colleges (public and private) shall re-open on Monday, January 15, 2024, resuming full/normal week for all classes,” according to an alleged statement issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department addressing the extension of winter holidays in colleges throughout the province.

“However, the January 4 notification lacks credibility.”
The phony announcement is confusing students, professors, and parents by wrongly implying that winter breaks at Punjab institutions will be extended.
The Higher Education Department (HED) published the most current notification on the extension of winter breaks on December 30, 2023. According to the statement, all public and private colleges and universities in Punjab will reopen on January 10, 2024.
When will educational institutions in various provinces resume after the winter break?
All private and public schools in Lahore and other Punjab cities are scheduled to resume lessons on January 10, unless the breaks are extended due to inclement weather or pollution.
Winter holidays at Sindh’s educational institutions ended on December 31, 2023, and classes resumed on January 1, 2024.
Students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have had their winter holidays extended even longer. The education department sent a letter on December 31st, announcing the closure of all public and private schools until Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Winter holidays in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were extended on Thursday owing to harsh cold and fog. From January 5 to 15, educational institutions will be closed.
