On Wednesday, the University of Sargodha (UoS) Department of Sociology and Criminology held an awareness walk and lecture with the theme “Strengthening Voices to Eliminate Violence against Women.”
The purpose of the event was to increase public awareness and provide light on practical methods for ending violence against women to fortify an egalitarian society.
Pro vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin led a walk that started at the College of Pharmacy and finished at the Wazir Agha Library, where many students, faculty members, and distinguished guests joined in.

The students expressed their strong desire to create a society free of violence against women by holding placards, banners, and colorful posters.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin, Dr. Qaisra Ismail, Member of Punjab Status on Woman Commission, Mr. Shah Nawaz Khan, Provisional Manager SPO, Dr. Saira Shafi, Deputy District Population Welfare Officer, Sargodha, and other notable individuals were among the esteemed keynote speakers who graced the occasion.
Speakers at a powerful seminar discussed prevalent issues in responding to and preventing violence against women.
They gave pupils real-world examples of Islamic teachings that respected, upheld, and addressed many facets of women’s rights in all walks of life.
They underlined that 90% of women experience abuse in their communities and that violence against women must end immediately to make the world a better place where all women are shielded from prejudice, abuse, and injury.
“Our Shared Responsibility is to foster a society in which every woman can live without fear of violence,” Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Ya-sin stated in the concluding note.
