This auspicious holiday, also known as the Festival of Lights, is culturally and religiously significant. Families gather to light candles in their homes, exchange presents, and participate in celebratory traditions.
According to the announcement, next Monday will be a holiday for the Hindu community in honor of the ‘festival of lights’ for all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, companies, and local councils under Sindh government administrative jurisdiction.
It should be mentioned that just last week, the federal government declared a national holiday in honor of the 146th birthday of the nation’s famed poet and philosopher, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The November 9 official holiday had been canceled for numerous years before former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to revive it last year.
