On Friday, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, hosted a seminar on sustainable wheat production for improved nutrition and food security.
The purpose of the seminar was to draw attention to how crucial sustainable agriculture is to solving the problems of hunger and food insecurity. The coordinator was Dr. Muhammad Saqib, an assistant professor in the agronomy department.

The Department of Agronomy’s Chairman, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aun Samar, greeted the attendees and guests and underlined how important sustainable agriculture is to guarantee food security.
The main guest during the function was Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment.
The importance of sustainable agricultural practices and their implementation were discussed in the seminar.
The key topics of discussion were environmental sustainability (including soil health maintenance, water management and biodiversity conservation), social and economic sustainability, and the adoption of technology and awareness of methodologies used for sustainable wheat production for food security.
