“It is a matter of great joy that we are celebrating World Soil Day today; this day has tremendous significance because it ensures food security, as human needs are from soil,” Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jahan Bakht remarked in a speech on the occasion.
The first province to create a food security policy was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said, “Rainwater was being lost in drains instead of being absorbed into the ground since soil erosion was rising and the land was turning into deserts, our houses and streets were being paved.” Dr. Jahan Bakht claimed that since output had decreased as a result of residential colonies being built on agricultural land, action, and teamwork were required to stop all of these issues.
