The unfortunate incident at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has shaken the entire Pakistan that such incidents are happening in the universities of Pakistan.
Keeping in view the strong demand of the people of Pakistan for a transparent investigation, the Higher Education Commission has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the entire incident of how students and female faculty members were harassed.
Among the leading members of the committee, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali is the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bahauddin Zakaria University, Multan, Lt. Gen. Retd. Muzzam IJaz, Rector of the National University of Technology, Professor Dr, Najam, Rector of Noor International University, Lahore, Professor Dr, Tahira Aziz Mugal, Rector of Imperial College of Business Studies, Lahore, and Dr. Mazhar Saeed Advisor HEC in Finance and P&D.
All committee members have received notification of their appointment
The committee will conduct a completely fair investigation in which it will collect all the evidence it has through its own investigation, which will be assisted by electronic print and social media, and will also receive assistance from various departments of the university.
A reasonable and fair investigation will be conducted to determine whether the allegations are factual or not.
If the committee finds the accused guilty, the committee will also have the responsibility to implement the rules of the sexual policy of HEC and the committee has to report to the HEC within 21 days.
The HEC shall also provide compensation to the member and all such expenses shall be borne by HEC.
