Medical universities in Pakistan are very few in comparison to Pakistan’s population. Due to this, there is a shortage of doctors in Pakistan and many students opt for private universities to pursue their doctorate education where they have to pay large sums of credit in terms of fees.
Thousands of students in Pakistan miss out on their doctorates every year due to a lack of medical universities and colleges. Such students are not financially strong enough to pay the fees of private medical universities and colleges.
Keeping this in mind, the Government of Pakistan is taking steps to build medical universities and colleges on a serious note.
Keeping all these things in mind, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has recently laid the foundation stone of the Kidney and Liver Institute University of Pakistan at Kidney and Liver Institute located in Lahore.
Speaking with participants, the Prime Minister recalled that when he laid the foundation stone of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute in 2015 and the institute was completed in 2018.
He also acknowledged the tireless work of Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar and appreciated him who dedicated extensive time and effort in building this institute under his visionary leadership.
Liver transplant procedures were initiated in Pakistan during the tenure of Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and PKLI is an example of this and a ray of hope for patients whose financial background is not good.

The establishment of this university is a forward step in the progress of Pakistan on medical grounds. When it is completed, many talented students of Pakistan will be able to pursue their doctorate in it.
