To raise awareness of breast cancer among female teachers and students, a seminar was arranged at the Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) for Women. Dr. Nabila Javed, Director of the Atomic Energy Commission Hospital (DINAR), Madam Sara Khan, Principal Engineer of GPI for Women, and a large number of professors and students were present at the lecture.

Breast cancer cases are rising quickly in Pakistan, according to Dr Nabila Javed, who spoke at the conference.
This trend can be stopped by raising awareness and getting a diagnosis as soon as possible. She emphasized that every pupil needed to be aware of basic health issues.
To completely eradicate breast cancer, she claimed that women must be educated about health-related topics and constantly made aware of the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatments of the disease.
Causes:
According to experts, breast cancer develops when normal breast cells mutate into malignant cells, which then proliferate and expand to form tumors.
They don’t know what causes the transformation, though. However, research indicates there are several risk factors that could raise your risk of breast cancer. These consist of:
- Breast cancer mostly attacks women aged 55 or older.
- Compared to men and people AMAB, women and AFAB people have a substantially higher risk of developing the illness.
- You run a higher risk of having breast cancer if you’re parents, siblings, children, or other near relatives do.
- Up to 15% of those who acquire breast cancer do so as a result of inherited genetic alterations. The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are affected by the most widespread hereditary abnormalities.
- Breast cancer has been connected to tobacco usage in several different cancers.
- According to research, using alcoholic beverages may raise the risk of developing breast cancer.
- Being obese.
- You have a high risk of getting breast malignant growth assuming you’ve recently gone through radiation treatment, particularly to the head, neck, or chest.
- Individuals who undergo hormone replacement therapy (HRT) are more likely to develop the illness.
Symptoms:
Various symptoms of breast cancer may include:
- A change in the size, shape, or contour of your breast.
- A lump or tumour that might feel as little as a pea
- A lump or thickening that lasts the whole of your menstrual cycle in or around your breast or underarms.
- A change in the texture or appearance of your nipple or breast skin. Your skin could appear puffy, dimpled, scaly, or irritated. It could appear deeper, redder, or purple than the rest of your breast.
- A firm spot under your skin that resembles marble.
- A discharge of blood-stained or clear fluid from your nipple.
Prevention:
Dr Nabila recommended that women should self-examine their breasts and call the hospital if they see any changes or tiny lumps. She also thoroughly described to the students the process of their examination.
She announced that a free breast clinic would be held at the DINAR hospital from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. from October 23 through October 31.

She advised that beginning at the age of 20, every woman should undergo a monthly breast exam or visit a female doctor at Dinar Hospital.
She stated that breast cancer patients made up the majority of the cancer patients at DINAR Hospital. “We are offering free cancer therapy to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
