Today, caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar inaugurated 39 e-Rozgaar centers across Pakistan.
The ambitious project of establishing 10,000 e-Rozgaar centers across Pakistan has been initiated, according to IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif, who spoke at the launch ceremony.
The government has also approved Rs. 1.0 billion for the establishment of e-Rozgaar centers across the nation through public/private partnerships that will facilitate interest-free loans to shortlisted/qualified individuals and companies.
During the project’s early stages, Dr. Umar Saif stressed the significance of IT. With the eventual goal of achieving 10,000 centers nationally, he announced the development of 250 centers through the public and private sectors in various small and large towns.
To tackle the present issues that the nation’s 1.5 million freelancers must deal with, Dr. Umar Saif emphasized the dearth of essential resources, such as internet connectivity, laptops, and appropriate work areas.

He disclosed intentions to house one million independent contractors in these hubs, each of which might house up to 100 people, potentially increasing yearly IT exports by $10 billion.
Work is now underway on around forty e-Rozgaar facilities, all of which are anticipated to be operationalized by February 19, 2024.
During the last four months of the caretaker government, Dr. Saif expressed his satisfaction with the IT Ministry’s performance.
He gave the Special Investment Facilitation Council credit for making it possible for IT companies to keep 50% of their foreign currency earnings by enabling the quick approval of policies and projects.
An important development in the freelancer digital payment channel was revealed. The Minister of IT disclosed intentions to establish 10,000 accounts as part of a trial project that would begin on February 1, 2024, enabling freelancers to get paid via PayPal. If this pilot initiative is successful, more third-party agreements for fund collection will be implemented on a wider basis.
Dr. Umar Saif removed barriers to ensure that the 5G spectrum was available by addressing the technological infrastructure; a spectrum auction is slated for August 2024. In addition, he revealed plans to install 200,000 kilometers more of optical fiber cable throughout the nation.
The minister cited the right-of-way policy’s implementation and the settlement of disputes between institutions as major accomplishments. He added during the occasion that the telecom industry had long wanted the Telecommunication Tribunal to be established.
The minister mentioned several other noteworthy projects, such as the establishment of the Pakistan Startup Fund, which had an initial investment of Rs. 2 billion, the “Smartphones for All” program, which provided cell phones to people in easy-to-afford installments, and the fund for research and development intended to assist firms that manufacture mobile phones.
