The Punjab area has implemented a novel IT project aimed at improving the efficacy of its driving license issue procedure. Residents around the region can now more easily and conveniently obtain a driving license in Punjab.

Simple Learner Permits
These days, learner permits are granted every day and have a six-month validity period. With a copy of their CNIC, a Rs. 60 ticket from any post office, and a Highway Code Book—a book that contains traffic laws and regulations—from the Traffic Police Office, aspiring drivers can quickly get started on their adventure.
Age-appropriate Punjab Licensing Punjab has simplified the age limits for various car categories:
- Motorcycle/Car: 18 Years
- LTV (Tractor Commercial, Rickshaw, Taxi, and Hiace): 21 Years
- HTV: 22 Years
Streamlined the Process of Documentation
The following paperwork must be submitted for candidates to receive a learner’s permit:
- The CNIC Rs. 60 ticket can be obtained from any Post Office.
- Highway Code Book, which contains traffic laws and regulations.
- A certified medical professional’s medical certificate.
Accelerated Regular License Procedure
The procedure for obtaining a standard driver’s license has also been streamlined:
- A duplicate of CNIC
- 03 passport-sized photos
- Medical certification from a licensed healthcare professional
- Certificate of Medical Fitness (for candidates 50 years of age or above)
- Form for application (A)
- Original learner’s permit, with at least 42 days remaining on its validity
- Ticket relevant to the document pasted on it
Economical License Fees
Punjab has made driving licenses more accessible to everyone by introducing a competitive cost structure for different types of vehicles:
- Motor Cycle: Rs. 550
- Automobile: Rs. 900
- LTV: Rs. 900
- Motor Cycle/Motor Car: Rs. 950
- LTV/motorcycle: Rs. 950
- Agriculture Tractor: Rs. 300
- Commercial Tractor: Rs. 600
- LTV + PSV: Rs. 950
- HTV + PSV: Rs. 1200
- Rickshaw with a motorbike: Rs. 600
- Motorbike with Motorbike Rickshaw: Rs. 650
In addition to guaranteeing a more seamless licensing procedure, this calculated move encourages people to become familiar with the Highway Code Book, which in turn increases road safety.
