Latest Update on Holidays in Islamabad Due To Security Threat

The recent terror wave in Islamabad causing a lot of confusion among students and parents. Federal minister clearing the air on these speculations.

Murtaza Solangi, the Caretaker Information Minister, responded to recent rumors stating that numerous universities in Islamabad might be closed owing to security concerns.

On Tuesday, the minister stressed that, contrary to early reports, all educational institutions in the federal capital had not been closed.

The confusion emerged after mainstream media reported that three institutions in Islamabad were closed indefinitely following a security search operation in the city’s outskirts on Sunday.

Minister Solangi stated in a statement that the state is dedicated to safeguarding the safety of students and people in the event of a potential threat.

In addition, the Islamabad Territory Police (ICT) issued a clarification, noting that no educational, banking, market, or commercial institutions had been closed.

In response to social media worries, a police spokeswoman advised the public not to disseminate false stories, underlining that the situation in Islamabad is quiet and normal.

However, contrary information has surfaced from sources within the International Islamic University (IIUI), indicating that the university is closed until January 26 owing to security concerns.

In reaction to the current circumstances in the federal capital, the IIUI administration has already urged stakeholders to put in place strong security measures on campus.

IIUI Rector Prof Dr Samina Malik reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating a safe and peaceful environment. She urged the security and administration personnel to leave no gaps, assuring thorough efforts to ensure peace on campus.

The enhanced security measures in Islamabad are connected to the current sit-ins outside the press club and the forthcoming general elections on February 8.

Law enforcement agencies are executing a massive operation in the city and its suburbs to increase security and address any threats. As the situation develops, officials continue to monitor and address security issues in the capital.
