The other day, Government College University (GCU) held a seminar called Anti-Drug Awareness under the sponsorship of the Anti-Tobacco and Anti-Drug Committee to inform students about drug misuse and its negative effects.
Speakers noted that the bulk of the population was made up of young people who faced a variety of issues, including the growing tendency of drug use, but that eliminating the threat would require teamwork.

In addition to committee members Drs. Sheeba and Adnan Malik, the convener, Dr. Makhdoom Roshan Siddiqui, spoke at the event. “Small evil always breeds big evil,” declared Dr. Roshan Siddiqui. “Drug abuse was also an evil, but it can be controlled through collective efforts.” He asserted that drug usage is forbidden by all religions, including Islam and ethics.
He claimed the university’s anti-drug and anti-tobacco committee, led by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Tayabba Zareef, was working in good faith and raising awareness of the dangers of drug use.
In this awareness drive, he said, all students served as university ambassadors, protecting others from harm while also educating them to abstain from this habit.
Student representatives promised to collaborate in order to eradicate social problems from the university.
