Haji Ghulam Ali, the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reaffirmed his dedication to boosting research and education in the province on October 29, 2023.
The Governor emphasized the value of colleges conducting commercial research during his Sunday visit to the Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST), citing examples of how universities across the globe are making billions from research commercialization.
He pushed the province’s universities to establish themselves as leaders in the field of research.
The governor launched a number of university-funded initiatives totaling one billion rupees during his visit, which were supported by the Higher Education Commission.
The founding of the Institute of Space Technology and efforts to capture solar energy for the university were among these projects.
Stressing the value of research and security measures, the governor dedicated the university’s new Academic Block and Regional Anti-Terrorism Center.

Students at the university received laptops from Governor Ghulam Ali along with scholarships from the Higher Education Commission.
Numerous dignitaries, including Dr. Majid-ur-Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University, academic members, representatives from the Higher Education Commission, and a sizable student body attended the opening ceremony.
Governor Ghulam Ali emphasized in his speech how much of the federal budget is devoted to the education sector and urged all colleges to create surplus budgets.
He emphasized that universities have received budget preparation instructions following discussions with the Governor’s Secretariat. Along with praising Abbottabad University for its fruitful research endeavors—particularly in the area of cyber security—he also stated his hope that these kinds of projects will improve the university’s financial standing in addition to enhancing its reputation.
