Punjab Cuts Health Budget to Boost Sports Promotion

Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar who is the newly elected Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports has stated that he intends to reduce the budget for health for athletes.

He also said at a press conference in Lahore that these efforts aim to make the sports ministry the most active and to provide every child in Punjab with sports facilities.

He claimed that the sports budget is shrinking while the health budget is increasing and that they intend to lower the health budget by investing more in athletes.

The minister promised that money given by Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, will be used to prepare athletes for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She also mentioned programs to promote traditional activities.

The minister also declared that Arshad Nadeem, an athlete, who has been training with outdated equipment, would be getting a new javelin. Khokhar emphasized the need to build sports centers similar to that in Lahore in every city.
