Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has initiated various programs to support the youth of Punjab and to reduce their transportation cost.
After the introduction of free bus services and iPads, Maryam Nawaz has now introduced a new e-bike program for students.
The main purpose of launching this e-bike program is to make it easy for female students and alleviate their transportation costs.
The project, known as the Punjab Govt. E-Bikes Scheme for Students 2024, will facilitate the commuting of students, young people, working women, and people with disabilities.
Although the program will start just in major cities like Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Faisalabad, it will soon be extended to smaller cities as well.
The government will give 657 eco-friendly buses and almost 20,000 electric bikes to female students as part of the program.

Additionally, the Bank of Punjab is going to provide students with a Soft Loan that will allow them to purchase e-bikes in convenient installments with low interest rates and adjustable payment schedules.
Male and female students will have different quotas to maintain equity, and the application process efficacy will be continuously checked.
Applicants can submit their application for the E-Bike scheme through an online system using the government platform from May.
In addition, CM Maryam approved the establishment of a school bus scheme designed exclusively for female students in each Punjab tehsil, empowering students with lower upfront expenses.
During a meeting with senior authorities to review the status of several transport projects, this plan was discussed. Buses would run in important cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur during the initial phase.
All these efforts are being made by the government for the betterment of Pakistan and to provide their youth with the facilities that are required.
