A groundbreaking move by the provincial government of Punjab will provide financial assistance to disabled persons by helping them reduce their travel expenses.
These cards improve accessibility by providing a 50% discount travel card for disabled individuals on public transportation charges.
The plan, which is under the Punjab Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, is available to all disabled individuals who hold a government-issued disability certificate.
Applicants can get the card by visiting the Deputy Director of Social Welfare’s office in their area.
Last year, the province administration made a commendable move by providing free public transportation to older residents and students. It was aimed to provide better facilities to the needy persons.

Although the program was temporarily halted before the winter vacations, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently asked authorities to reestablish the free travel option on significant public transportation projects.
Students up to class XII will receive free transportation on Metro buses and the Orange Line Train until the summer holiday.
