Sadqa-e-Fitr 2024 in Pakistan: Mandatory Contribution Fixed at Rs. 300 per Individual

In a recent move, the minimum required charity donation for Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, known as Sadqa-e-Fitr, has been established at Rs300 per person for the current year.

Sheikh Al-Hadith Professor Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali, an eminent Chairman of the Shariah Board Pakistan, made this momentous declaration.

Following the guidelines of Islamic Shariah, the rates are set based on the market costs of staple foods including flour, oats, dates, and raisins.

According to the announcement that was released, believers who would like to provide Fitra that is equal to the price of dates or oats should make a minimum contribution of Rs. 2,400 or Rs. 600 per individual.

Likewise, each individual contributing to Fitra at the rate of raisins must pay a total of Rs 4,400.

Dr. Zafar highlighted that Sadqa-e-Fitr must be paid before the Eid prayers by any Muslim whose food supply exceeds their needs.

He went on to explain that those who were unable to fast throughout Ramadan were required to make a payment known as Fidya.

Depending on the main item selected, the Fidya amount varies from Rs 9,000 for wheat, Rs 18,000 for oats, Rs 72,000 for dates, and a substantial Rs 132,000 for raisins.
