Ramadan Relief Package 2024 Launched at Utility Stores: Avail Now

Here is great news for the residents of Pakistan who are worried about their expenses for the holy month of Ramadan.
Starting tomorrow, March 5, 2024, the federal government will launch the Rs7.492 billion Ramadan Relief Package 2024 through Utility Stores Corporation (USC) stores.

This program, which has the approval of the federal cabinet, will be implemented during the holy month of Ramadan, which is anticipated to start in March. Subsidies on 19 necessities, such as atta, sugar, rice, lentils, cooking oil, spices, and drinks, are available to Tangsted beneficiaries.

A campaign of public awareness through print and electronic media has been assigned, with a budget of Rs. 145 million.
The Ministry of Industries noted that for the focal year 2023–24, a total of is. 25 billion has been allocated in the budget for subsidizing essential items, including both the Prime Minister’s Relief Package 2023–2024 and the Ramazan Relief Package 2024 distributed through USC outlets.

This practice of offering subsidized rates on essential items during Ramadan through USC outlets dates back to 1991.
In compliance with recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about targeted subsidies, the government would only provide subsidies to those who have registered through the PMT-40 database as beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

To potentially reach an extra 12.73 million families in addition to the 26.92 million now served under PMT-40, the Ministry of Industries and Production suggests channeling subsidies towards beneficiaries registered under PMT-60. This implies extending the reach of aid during the Holy month.

The major aim of launching this package is to eliminate the financial burden of those who have low incomes. During the month of fasting, they can ensure easy access to the necessary items for household at affordable prices. And they can worship ALLAH without having worries.

The government wants to use targeted subsidies and a broad awareness campaign to effectively distribute aid while adhering to IMF regulations. This initiative shows how committed the government is to promoting social welfare and providing support to the most vulnerable populations during religious holidays.
