GC University Lahore Makes History by Welcoming Female Athletes for Admissions

Various initiatives are being started in Pakistan to give equal opportunities to females in education.

Considering the fact that women can play an important role in the development of the country, it is very important to educate women for equal representation of women in all departments of Pakistan.

In this regard, Government College University Lahore has taken many steps in which for the first time this academic year 2023-24 females will get admissions based on sports quota in undergraduate.

This is only the second time in Pakistani history that a university has given admissions on sports quota, which tells about GC University Lahore’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity in sports.

GCU Lahore, known for its excellent academic experience and rich heritage, is offering admission to female students in 15 different sports.

The response to this initiative has been very good in the first few days with many aspirants participating with great enthusiasm and most importantly performing well, especially in hockey and football in Undergraduate Admission Trials.

All the female athletes have shown a lot of hard work and skills that have impressed the selection committee and set a challenge for future students to follow.

The trials marked a milestone in the university’s history as football and hockey teams were launched in the university for the first time.

Dr. Shabnam Ishaq, the First President of Football and Hockey Clubs, Muhammad Waseem Akhtar the Director of Sports, Chairman of Sports, and other key members participated in the committee and conducted a free and fair trial process.
