The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Punjab government to close all public and private educational institutions on Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, workplaces have been ordered to implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for two days each week.
It is important to note that the injunction will only apply to the province’s smog-affected districts. All private and government offices in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, and Bahawalnagar would be closed twice weekly.
The LHC has also requested that the DG Environment be replaced due to the province’s failure to reduce smog.
In addition, Justice Shahid Karim directed that the Deputy Commissioners of Jhang, Hafiz Abad, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, Bahawalnagar, and Sheikhupura be transferred.

In addition, the Punjab government has also been ordered to promote cycling in the province and purchase electric bikes for its employees.
The LHC court also chastised the Punjab administration for launching development projects in the midst of stifling pollution.
