UHS Starts Online Admissions for Public and Private Medical Colleges

In Punjab, applications for admission in both government and private medical and dental colleges will be accepted from October 16th to 31st. The online portal of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) will be used for processing these applications.

This decision was made during an official meeting of the Provincial Admission Committee which was held at UHS, and chaired by Ali Jan Khan who is the Secretary of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department.

The meeting was attended by Vice-chancellors from all public sector medical universities in Punjab.

During the meeting, UHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore provided some details regarding medical college admissions. The committee members visited the UHS Admission Cell and showed their satisfaction with the preparations made.

The committee totally agreed that admissions to both government and private medical colleges will start on October 16. It was highlighted that applications for medical and dental colleges should be submitted separately through dedicated online portals.

The Secretary of Health underlined the significance of centralized admissions in private medical colleges to streamline the process for candidates, ensuring transparency and merit-based selections.

He also directed the relevant authorities to take all necessary measures to advance the admissions process. Moreover, Khan highlighted the significance of improving the online application system’s bandwidth to ensure its smooth operation, reiterating the government’s commitment to the convenience of candidates and their parents.

During the meeting, it was decided that the initial fee for private sector medical colleges, amounting to ten lakh rupees, would be collected by UHS within three days through the Bank of Punjab.

Prominently, applicants entering private medical colleges will have the choice to keep their admission status in their initial colleges if they so prefer. Any outstanding fees after the admissions process will be submitted by the applicant to their respective college.

The deadline for submission of online applications for government and private medical and dental colleges has been set for October 31st.
