The Directorate General of Immigration (DGI) of Indonesia has introduced a game-changing visa policy, ushering in a new era with the introduction of 5-year Multiple Entry visas indicated as D1 and D2.
The fundamental goal of this program is to simplify travel for foreigners conducting both business and tourism in Indonesia.
The Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, expressed hope about the new visa policy’s good impact, noting, “This Multiple-Entry Visa offers ease for immigrants with significant mobility… We believe that with this new visa policy, more international nationals would visit Indonesia.”

5-Year Multiple Entry Visa of Indonesia
The newly created visa category provides five-year multiple-entry visas with stays of up to 60 days each visit for foreigners visiting the nation for either tourism or business.
It’s worth noting that the regular tourist visa for Indonesia generally provides for a 30-day stay with a single entrance, which can be extended for another 30 days before expiration.
Visas D1 and D2 Meeting a Variety of Needs
Foreigners will be able to choose between two five-year multiple-entry visas beginning in January 2024:
D1 Visa: Tailored for leisure travelers, the D1 Visa enables exploration of Indonesia’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich culture for up to 60 days per visit. Activities like sightseeing, visiting friends and family, and attending cultural events are all permissible under this visa.
D2 Visa: Designed for business travelers, the D2 Visa allows a 60-day stay per visit for activities such as participating in meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and business negotiations. However, engaging in full-time employment or commercial activities requiring a work permit is not allowed.
