A day after the Senate Standing Committee on Finance expressed worry over the rising circulation of counterfeit notes; the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) issued a thorough explanatory video on how to detect a fake Rs. 5,000 note.
The video, which was initially released on YouTube by the SBP in 2018, provides extensive instructions on understanding the essential security elements of the Rs. 5,000 note and identifying a counterfeit one.

How to Identify Fake Rs. 5000 Currency Notes?
According to the central bank, the Rs. 5,000 note features a Pakistani flag printed with optically changeable magnetic ink.
Individuals who are blind or visually challenged receive higher grades.
There is also a protective thread (silver dashes) on the left side of the note, where the legal value of the note may be seen when verified under adequate lighting.
When examined under UV light, the note features lemon-green motifs and microscopic strands etched over the paper.
More concealed figures and distinct watermarks on the note make it quite clear if it is genuine or not. The graphic below indicates everything you should look for when recognizing a counterfeit.
It is worth noting that the problem of counterfeit money notes in Pakistan is not new and has existed for many years.
