Virtual Registration Card for Vehicles Launched by Punjab

The Punjab Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Department has resolved a long-standing problem encountered by new automobile owners in the province by introducing a virtual registration card for vehicles, marking a significant step towards digitization.

The issue for owners has been made worse in the past by traffic police fining vehicles for not having physical registration cards.

The department recently announced on social media that those who have registered their cars but have not yet received their physical cards can now get a digital copy by visiting the agency’s website.

To create the virtual card, follow the instructions given on the website and provide the chassis and registration numbers.

The department excitedly tweeted about the release of Punjab’s first e-title document, the E-Registration Card.

The Excise department’s move is praiseworthy because it protects vehicle owners from fines and legal issues, which is a major concern. It is in line with the government’s larger initiatives to digitalize government services for citizens.

Remarkably, the government and traffic police had previously permitted the digital renewal of driver’s licenses and the issue of learner permits online.

The introduction of an e-driving license improved communications with traffic officials by allowing people to show the license online to avoid penalties.

The digital measures greatly enhance residents’ convenience by enabling them to obtain necessary documents from the comfort of their homes. For the good of the people, supporters are urging the government to keep enacting such progressive laws.
