Latest Electricity Rates Surge by Rs4.56 per Unit in Feb 2024: Check Details

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a whopping Rs4.56 per unit increase in electricity rates.

This will be another bad news for the poor and inflation hit people in Pakistan. With the increase in fuel prices last week this news will serve as a salt in the wounds for the poor communities of the nation.

The regulatory body has issued a statement in this respect, stating that it has been increased due to fuel adjustments for December 2023.

The current change in electricity rates will inflict an extra burden of Rs39.80 billion on customers, who are already battling record-high gas prices.

According to Nepra, users would pay an increase of Rs4.56 per unit on their power bills in February 2024.

However, the new electricity rates would not apply to K-Electric or lifeline customers.

In November of last year, the authority raised electricity rates by Rs4.13 per unit due to a fuel cost adjustment.
