Federal Urdu University Karachi Thursday updated the fee structure with an increment of 50%.
Attending a public interview acting vice chancellor of the university Prof Ziauddin said that they have no choice but to increase the charges because of the limited resources of the university and the current financial situation.
He said that they had pursued the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to expand the grant to the university but it completely had gone to no end as the HEC representative wouldn’t expand the grant.
“After refusal from the HEC, we gathered the academic council meeting on August 2 which chose consistently to increment 50% charge. The 10% expansion toward the start of the year is additionally included for the new increment,” he added.
He expressed that in the years 2018, 2019, and 2020 they didn’t increase the fee despite monetary issues.
Every one of the institutes has similar issues in the ongoing monetary circumstance the nation is going through, he added.
He said that they likewise met the authorities of the Sindh government Karachi’s second-biggest university for aid. Every one of the universities in Sindh is supported by both the Sindh Government and the HEC, he added.
