University of Health Sciences Pioneers Pakistan’s First Medico-Legal Examination Course

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) will be the first educational institute in Pakistan to offer a certificate in Medico-legal Examination Course.

The course will zero in on forensic medicine and clinical statute to improve abilities, morals, and impressive skills in medico-legal practice.

During the medico-legal process, a specialist is liable for looking at casualties of violations of rules like mishaps, attacks, and possible killings at an approved health facility. This is the most critical phase in the examination which archives the wounds endured by the victim.

Last year, the Lahore High Court (LHC) requested the Punjab government to improve the ability of analysts in medico-legal cases. The court had given severe guidelines to significant specialists to ensure that clinical inspectors were capable of dealing with such pivotal issues.

Medico-legal Examination Course has been made because of joint endeavors by the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHC), Health Information and Service Delivery Unit (HISDU), Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), and UHS.

It has been planned as a month-long program involving hands-on training, split into segments. The motivation behind this course is to give functional preparation to Medical Officials (MOs), Women Medical Officials (WMOs), and Dental Specialists across Punjab.

As per the subtleties of the preparation, the course incorporates different subjects, for example, Toxicology, Traumatology, Post-mortem, Medical Regulation, Morals, Medico-legal Report Composing, ID, Sample Handling, and Electronic Data Management.

The Forensic Medicine Department at Jinnah Campus UHS, Service Hospital Lahore, Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Lahore General Hospital, and PFSA have been picked as the instructional hubs.

The Punjab government intends to prepare 400 people in the following two years. Each batch will contain 40 applicants each month.

Their undertakings will incorporate completing logbook tasks and submitting portfolios for assessment as a feature of the certification assessment.
