The DGI&P Office has begun issuing electronic passports (E-passports) to residents across the country.
What exactly is an e-passport?
The e-passport is a highly secure kind of travel documentation. One of the passport pages has an electronic chip that will be used to store biometric information about the holder.
The chip carries data that will validate the passport holder’s identity, including the passport holder’s biometrics, personal data found on the passport’s data page, a unique identification number, and a digital signature.
An e-passport has a contactless (NFC) chip, which allows the passport to be read electronically. Pakistan’s recently issued e-Passports comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) standards.
Sindh’s Standard Fee for a New e-Passport
The typical charge for an e-passport with 36 pages and a five-year validity period is Rs 9,000, while the fee for a 36-page e-passport with a ten-year validity period is Rs 13,000.

The fee structure is the same in all of Pakistan’s provinces.
