PTA and FIA Crack Down on Illegal Sims Issuance in Punjab and Sindh

In cooperation with the FIA Cyber Crime Circles, PTA Zonal Offices in Sukkur and Lahore were able to raid the franchises of two mobile phone firms in Kandhkot and Sharaqpur Sharif with success.

The intention was to stop the unauthorized SIM card issuing, which is frequently linked to unlawful operations like fraud and identity theft.

Thirteen active SIM cards were seized during the raids, and eight Biometric Verification System (BVS) devices—which were used to illegally activate SIM cards—were also taken.

Two employees of the Kandhkot franchise have been nominated in the FIR, while the proprietor of the Sharqpur Sharif franchise has been placed under custody. The FIA is presently investigating the instances.

The PTA’s determination to end this threat is demonstrated by the current offensive against the unauthorized issuing of SIM cards.
