The interim administration has announced a breakthrough project that will begin on January 12, 2024, providing the public iPhone Installment Plan.
Umar Saif, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology, confirmed the details of this partnership with telecom players, which he first announced in October 2023.
He emphasized the need of such a scheme, realizing that while a sizable section of the Pakistani population owns mobile phones, the exorbitant cost of premium handsets remained out of reach for many.
Dr. Saif emphasized the goal of this new effort, which intends to provide citizens with access to the most recent smartphone models via easy and cheap payment plans.

The inclusion of the iPhone Installment Plan among the devices covered by the payment plan is an intriguing aspect of this service. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) would enforce the Device Identification, Registration, and Barring Systems (DIRBS) to guarantee adherence to installment payments, potentially barring phones in situations of installment default.
