The main objective of this scheme is to facilitate people who are not financially strong. And to provide them with easy access to technology by offering them interest-free installment options.
The policy also describes steps to deal with defaulters, such as how to disable the mobile devices of those who don’t pay their installments on time.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will play a major role in putting this policy into effect, which is a change from the traditional practice of relying only on mobile firms for enforcement. A key component of carrying out the blocking operations will be the PTA’s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
